Class Overview
The course covers the uses for Oleoresin Capsicum Aerosol Spray from an aerosol dispenser, including exposure and decontamination. This section of the class will certify the user to carry OC spray in private security in Texas. OC Spray is a common defensive Intermediate/Less Lethal weapon that is effective on 90% or more of the population.
The student will be trained in how to carry, deploy, and use OC Spray as well as when the use is appropriate and inappropriate. The training will conclude with a mandatory exposure exercise. Unlike other training providers, we believe that exposure to OC Spray in training is very important. If the first time an officer is exposed to OC Spray is during a confrontation on the street, the officer’s survivability goes down considerably.
It is recommended that each student bring a change of clothes and at least one towel. Duty gear is encouraged, however it is not required.
